Bios:
Joshua Beckman was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the author of six books, including Take It (Wave Books, 2009), Shake and two collaborations with Matthew RohrerNice Hat. Thanks. and Adventures While Preaching the Gospel of Beauty. He is an editor at Wave Books and has translated numerous works of poetry and prose, including Poker by Tomaz Salamun, and most recently Five Meters of Poems by Carlos Oquendo de Amat.


Sheila Donovan is a Brooklyn based performance artist, originally from Hudson, Massachusetts. She is a founding member of the Laboratory Theater Company; a company also based in Brooklyn which creates original experimental theater works. Donovan sings, plays violin and drums in the band Amolvacy with members of Volcano the Bear and the No Neck Blues Band. Amolvacy’s releases include the LP’s Hohokus (2007) and Alalula (2009), and they are currently mixing their third album. She also sings and drums in the punk duo called Womb Sharks and is working on a solo release for a music project she calls Sheila XVI and the Creepy Brains.


Matthew Rohrer is the author of six books, most recently A PLATE OF CHICKEN. With Joshua Beckman he is the author of NICE HAT. THANKS and the audio CD ADVENTURES WHILE PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF BEAUTY. He lives in Brooklyn.


Edwin Torres is the author of “I Hear Things People Haven’t Really Said,” “The All-Union Day Of The Shock Worker” and “The PoPedology Of An Ambient Language” among others. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, creating performances that intermingle poetry with vocal & physical improvisation, sound-elements and visual theater. He’s received poetry fellowships from The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the New York Foundation for the Arts, The Foundation For Contemporary Performance Art and The Poets Fund. He has taught workshops and his work has been widely published in many anthologies. Edwin has been a leaky fixture on the New York City Poetry Scene since his days as a slam poet. His latest book “In The Function Of External Circumstances” was published by Nightboat Books.
